Are you in love with this box of gorgeous chocolates yet?
You already know that I am planning my holiday shopping already–while I am not actually shopping yet, I am making my list and checking it twice…figuring out who has been naughty and who has been nice. Along with taking down the names, I am figuring out what gifts to get and to whom they are going. The biggest challenge is the gift choices of course. I know I am not alone when I ask the question: “What can I get him/her that he/she doesn’t already have?” Holiday shopping is TRULY a challenge at times. The kids are pretty easy, it’s the adults that are the hard part. This year will be especially challenging because I am working at the nursery school and the staff wants to exchange gifts. I say a challenge because they have set a price value on what we can give. $10!!! YIKES! What can I get for $10 that will be appreciated? Hopefully they won’t be reading this post because I am about to tell you…. come closer…closer…HEY NOT THAT CLOSE!!! Okay, ready? I am getting each of them: a small box of delicious, decadent, delightful, mouth watering, melt in your mouth milk chocolate! You can’t go wrong with a box of chocolates right? Of course you can’t. I don’t know a single person who would ever refuse chocolate. A box of chocolates is a classic and traditional gift that NEVER goes out of style and is always appreciated.
As a Junior High School teacher here in New York for 10 years I received boxes of chocolate many times as a holiday presents from my students and I always loved receiving them because I could put them out when my holiday guests arrived–Everyone endulged in and enjoyed them.
Chocolate is the perfect gift for just about anyone because it’s so easy to send. Boxes and gift assortments of chocolate in all shapes and sizes (and flavors!) can be purchased and sent anywhere to your family and friends who live far away and can’t be with you for the holidays. They make an excellent gift for your boss (I suggest either a large box or pair it with another gift or place it in a gift basket), for co-workers, your college student’s dorm room, and as a an extra romantic touch for your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend or your secret crush! What about sending a box to your old school friends whom you found on-line again and whom you wish you could join for a chat by the fire. Chocolate also makes a wonderful gift for your child’s teacher, the baby sitter, the mail man, and even for your Chris Kringle or secret Santa gift giving needs. Last year I baked cookies for my Secret Santa recipient and she knew right away it was me–I was apparently not non-challant enough when I said I delivered them for someone else. I should have sent chocolates!
I may actually pick up a few extra boxes of chocolate to have on hand when I call upon friends. It’s nice to tuck a box of chocolate under a friend’s Christmas tree when they aren’t looking! A gorgeously wrapped box with a beautiful red ribbon tied to perfection placed beneath the lush green boughs of an elaborately decorated Christmas tree—OH THE IMAGE OF IT!
Now I ask you again—Are you in love with that box of chocolates yet?
