Freeing the World Of Toxic Chemicals One Household at a Time.
I was recently contacted by WOW Green Representative Sheley Traurig who wanted to introduce me to the WOW Green family of cleaning products for my home. I was more than open to this opportunity as I have already been trying to “green” my household as much as possible. Not only do I want to purify my home and my environment, but lets be honest ladies…. If Leonardo DiCaprio is ever going to ask me to run away with him I have to be doing my part to save the environment! (wink)
In all seriousness though, I have been trying to use safer alternatives in my home. I have two little boys roaming around and the less chemicals I have in my house, the better. When Sheley offered to send me some WOW Green products I was more than happy to accept them. I received:
One Recyclable heavy-duty plastic spray bottle
One 3 fluid Ounce bottle of WOW Green carpet and upholstery cleaner
One package WOW Green Glass and Stainless Cleaner (perfect as I have both in my home)
Three packages of Wow Green Floor Cleaner concentrate
The first thing I tried out was the upholstery cleaner/carpet cleaner. This product comes pre-mixed in its own little spray bottle. I don’t have any carpet in my home. I also don’t have much fabric in my home either–as I just bought a new leather sofa, but I have fabric on my kitchen chairs (POOR CHOICE of furniture on my part–upholstered chairs with kids is just not wise!) I definitely had some stains to remove and I set about the task with my WOW Green spray. I followed the directions–Spray on target , let sit for 1 minute and rub with wet cloth in circular motion. I am not sure what the “target” stain was –it was red so it could have been paint or magic marker or cranberry juice–WHO KNOWS? I don’t even know why it wasn’t cleaned up in the first place (I’ll have to investigate that one later) but I began scrubbing after a minute or so and found that not much had changed. I didn’t give up though… I sprayed on some more and let it sit for a little longer this time then grabbed the cloth and ran it under super hot water. I dug in again and I’ll be darned it was getting lighter. I kept scrubbing and BAM!! The stain was gone! Impressive. It took some muscle, but most stains often require a few rounds of scrubbing anyway. My grade for this product: A. It cleans well with a little bit of effort and doesn’t ruin the finish of the upholstery.
Next up was the Floor Cleaner. UGH! I hate mopping! I actually don’t use the traditional mop and bucket method so when I saw the word MOP on the packet I was bummed. I don’t own a mop– I usually use a spray on wood floor cleaner and a particular dry padded mop with the spray for my wood floors. I thought maybe I would just try to mix the packet with water in a spray bottle and see if it worked, but decided to do it AS DIRECTED. I mixed the packet with the correct amount of water and grabbed a rag and got down on my hands and knees and washed the floors by hand with the rag. Did I enjoy it? No. Did it work, yes. I wouldn’t say it worked any better or any worse than my own brand. The two are comparable for sure. WOW Green, however, didn’t have a scent, whereas mine does. WOW Green also has no harsh chemicals so I wasn’t worried about the floor getting stripped. The package doesn’t say which type of floors it is for, so I just assumed it was safe for all floors. The WOW Green was definitely gently on the wood but strong enough to clean it well. The next time I use the product though I will try putting it in the spray bottle and using it that way. I hate putting a dirty rag back in a clean bucket and there is no way I am going to keep running to the sink to keep rinsing rags. My grade for the product: A for cleaning ability–it is comparable to the “non-green” store variety. I give it a b though for ease of use as I think a product such as Swiffer or other sprays that don’t require mops are more convenient. A woman who likes to use a mop would disagree with me on this I am sure.
The last product I sampled was the glass and stainless cleaner which comes in a packet and you need to pour it into a spray bottle and mix it with water. The first thing I cleaned with this WOW Green product was the bathroom mirror. I sprayed it and wiped —and found it was wiping off streaky, and thought –OH NO! How am I going to give a bad review. This is not good! What do I say? But as I gave up on trying to rub it all off it actually cleared up and dried on its own. I guess I didn’t need to wipe as much? It was strange actually, the cloud that seemed to be on the glass just vanished and it dried well with ZERO streaks–Believe me I looked for streaks. I contorted my head in many ways trying to catch the light just right to find a streak, but there were none. I then took the spray to test on the stainless steel sink in my kitchen. Which was particularly dirty as I had some dishes from dinner in there with sauce a little while ago. I sprayed the solution onto the sink and let it set for a minute and then wiped the sink clean. It cut the dirt and sauce and it had a nice clean shine when I was done. Product grade A+ The spray bottle makes it easy and the cleaning solution worked as promised on BOTH the glass and stainless surfaces.
In general I was very satisfied with the results of all three products. I felt that they cleaned very well, were comparable to the big name versions out there on the market, I would use them again and I would recommend them to friends and you as well. I love the fact that these products are better for our environment and safer for our kids too. I highly endorse WOW Green Products.
WOW Green is not only a great product to use, it is also a great product to sell. In fact, they are currently actively recruiting new sales representatives. Here is some information that Shelley passed on to me regarding WOW Green and this sales recruitment opportunity:

Good Monday Morning. What a beautiful weekend we had here in New York! I trust that all of you had a wonderful weekend. For those of you who may have hit a rough spot, put it in the past and look forward to the beginning of a new week. Move ahead only looking back to learn from our experiences and to appreciate the moments that were positive. I pray that we all have a week full of love and laughter, good health, and summer sunshine. Let’s Take a good part of today to thank God for all of our blessings.
I have posted an absolutely beautiful song and video by former Backstreet Boy Brian Litrell who now performs solo as a Christian artist. I think you will agree with me that he truly is blessed with a wonderful voice and spirit. The video can be overwhelming as it is the recreation of the events prior to and including Christ on the Cross…. but the message of his gift to us needs to be remembered always. Humble am I as I watch the sacrifices he made for us. Thank YOU JESUS for your gift of eternal life. For those of you who can’t watch the recreation and prefer a less graphic video–enjoy the second link instead. Both are beautfiul. You will want to Pause the background music on the site PRIOR to watching the video, scroll down to the right sidebar and hit the pause button on the music player.
Please use the share button to send this message to a friend who may need or enjoy a positive message today.

Years ago when I stopped teaching and started my adventures in the motherhood, I also began my own jewelry business on the side to supplement our income. I did very well with home parties; actually I did VERY VERY WELL. I would get the jewelry wholesale from a great sterling silver and cubic zirconia site here online (Teeda.com) and would book AVON parties and bring my jewelry with me. I sold more jewelry than Avon. I decided to take my business online and chose Ebay. Day after day I would take pics of my items and post them with stunning descriptions. Day after day I waited for the sales to roll in—they didn’t. Why? Lots of reasons I suppose, but the biggest one I think was because there is SO MUCH COMPETITION on Ebay. I didn’t have an Ebay shop so my items were clustered in the huge listings of other jewelry sellers. Here I was paying Ebay listing fees on items that were just lost in a sea of other glistening and shining jewels. All of our items were gorgeous, but when it comes right down to it, if your items are listed on page 87, no one is going to browse through all 87 pages to find yours; chances are they found 6 or 7 items they liked prior to finding yours. What I found was my listing fees were just money down the drain and I stopped selling through Ebay. I began looking into opening up my own store and the possibilities were endless and so confusing. At about the same time, I became pregnant with my second son and thought–Who has time for all of this and abandoned the jewelry business. Which was a good decision at the time because there was just way too much going on when the second child came.
After about two years of just being mommy I tried to open my own craft store. I used Homestead website builders and found them to be a great company to use. The store was easy to build and when I had questions they would talk me through it over the phone. The store was pretty easy to maintain and it was fun building it. I made quite a few sales but business was slower than I had hoped and I spent more money making all of my wonderful creations and didn’t sell enough to make a profit. It is hard for crafters, artists and the like to do well in business because stores like WALMART, TARGET and even the oh so popular dollar stores sell cheaper alternatives. I eventually had to close the shop. Sadly, I shut the site down and thought about how another business had gone bust!
Things seem to be turning around though for online stores and businesses. I think blogging has a lot to do with that. Many store owners have found that being featured on a few blogs and offering giveaways can be the key to getting more customers into their stores. Article marketing is all the rage and opening your own store is super easy when you use drop shipping services so you don’t even need to maintain inventory. New stores are popping up all over the place and they are succeeding.
I have been checking out new businesses a lot lately and I always look to see who their hosts are and who builds their websites—just incase I lose my mind and decide to actually get my book published at some point and need a website for it. I came across a few that I absolutely LOVE. First off, EBAY not even a thought in my mind. Why would I pay them listing fees for each item when I can just pay $4.99 a month for my own store and list hundreds of items? I don’t know if an EBAY Store is set up differently, but the general listing service is set up that way. These are the ones I like the best because they are reasonably priced and have fantastic graphics! Their templates are so adorable.
The Cutest Site on The Block— TRULY is just that. They make adorable websites and they will set your store up for you. They are pretty pricey though if you want the works. The offer TONS of templates and it really is a gorgeous site to look at it and shop with. I was trying to find one template I liked best but couldn’t find just one! Here are just two samples of their templates.
Pappa Shop.com — Is the better choice if money is an option. Pappa Shop has beautiful templates and they offer hosting at a mere $4.99 a month. I was paying more than $4.99 a month to Ebay just in listing fees. They also assist you with putting the store together. You will also have trouble picking just one design for the store because they have so many to choose from. Here are just a few samples:

I was speaking with Mary Moy from Ella Bella Hairclippies about her experience with Homestead Site builders. She had no complaints about their site and she said it was easy to maintain (but time consuming). Her only complaint was that the graphics weren’t that great. To see more templates from Pappashop you may click this link:
If you have been looking for a website provider or if you have been considering opening your own store online I strongly suggest that you try these two sites. If you have been using Ebay and want to check out the value of opening your own site I also suggest you look into your own store–and please do come back and comment about what you think. Which is better: Ebay or your own online store? My choice would be the online store which would give me more freedom but I would love to hear your position.
For those of you who want to open up a store and need a point in the right direction I suggest the two sites above– Clearly they have tons of choices and from what I have seen in my research they STAND OUT among all others. Good luck with your endeavors!
Blessings,
Cheryl
