Little Miss High Maintenance
Two little girls in my daugther's class get professional pedicures at the age of 5... can you believe that! My friend was telling me about another little girl at her daughters school that is 9 and her mother "treats" her to a spray tan at the beginning of each school year so she can go back feeling good about herself.
Feel good through spray tans? Whatever happened to feeling good through a sport or achieving a goal.
So is this going too far or do you think it's perfectably reasonable? Maybe i'm just old fashioned?
As for my daughter, we'll pass on the spray tans. Occassionally i'll paint her toe nails in a light color because she loves it, but hold the professional pedicures... I think we'll opt for horse riding lessons instead. That way she won't be so worried about hair and makeup cause she'll be too busy cleaning up after horses ;-)

I agree. I think this sets a bad example. As it is our daughters will likely struggle with self image, like we all did, what kind of message does it send to children to focus so much on their appearance?
That's insane! Let kids be kids - people are trying to force them to grow up too soon.
